Re: [microsound}
Thanks for reminding me to do this jason.
Greetings everyone, My name is Vladimir Ardvinskov and I am a Canadian. I
was wondering if there were any others on this list?
I have been working with sound for not too long now, maybe four years but
have entertained the thought of trying to make a living doing so, as a sound
editor for films. The reality of this is that all the sound editors i have
ever spoken to still pedal to work and rent equipment from local film/audio
groups.
My theoretical stance is from the textural perspective rather than the
technical perspective. I love the feel of ikeda's peircing tones and the
impakt of panasonic's low end rumbling. Also the jarring juxtapositions of
IOS smolders and the intimate isolation of bernhard gunter, francisco lopez
and florian hecker have a lasting permission which for me stems from the
texture of their sound in these structural relations. Another area of music
which I am texturaly sensitive to is that of the music of komet, institut
feur fein motorik, taylor deupree's 12k release, fire.inc, ritchie hawtin...
I am unsure of a name or theory which could relate these artists say in a
culutral setting but on my radio program, I use the term Pylon Musik as a
descriptor for their style of motorik beats. Pylon representing the action
used to dodge the pylon which is swift(momentous), characteristic,
meticulous and minimal yet some how lending itself to chance. I also think
of the minimal sound of tire plastik on cement and also the roation of tires
with rocks in the tread on cement swerving... anyways this could be my
fetish for driving all zig zag like.
I conclude my potentially annoying introduction, In university I study
linguistics, so I can forsee many of my responses being steared
linguistically away from the point at hand. By all means if this happens
please inform me right away or else this might turn into the microscopic
syntax and its application to music list.
i look forward to participating as much as possible in the expanse of ideas
on this list.
