In one sense, albeit a completely simplistic one, the formula is
correct. However, it does leave out the all important element of human
input... choices that a composer makes as to arrangement, content and
structure.  It also leaves out whatever might have been present as the
motivating idea. I produced an album which very much followed that
formula (as well as fricking with it), but to me the key was what I
decided to do with the "output." If it worked it was not simply because
the correct button was pushed...
