laptop performance

curious that there was little discussion (except for Brad and Sony Mao)
about what software composers are using on their laptops when presenting
their soundwork/music...is there a large Max community on this list? what
other techniques are in use by composers who present their work in this
way...for myself I am planning on constructing a patch in Max/MSP that will
algorithmically mix large wave files into a coherent piece based on some
simple interaction with either a PC 1600 or the ascii keyboard...are their
others who are using sequencers in real time? has anyone used any non-music
software for interesting audio or visual presentations?...curious as to
what composers are using for laptop concerts...
