i like to immerse myself in a compositional environment where you know
very little, & then to pay extreme attention to the sound that the
buttons & sliders make. it's only my own experience, but i tend to be
distracted when i know too much about the software i use, & end up with
empty-sounding pieces.
4 points i found were important so as to make your glitchmusic
interesting to listen to repeatedly:
1) tension
2) layering
3) narrative
4) detail, detail, detail
i don't think we can afford to be too minimalist with a technology we
barely know yet.
but i may be just talking out of my hat... just curious if this rings
anyone's bell. it's 1:27am & i have to sleep. :)
