Audible Design source
For those who have expressed an interest in acquiring Trevor Wishart's
"Audible Design", this is the place where you will get it online:
http://www.cdemusic.org/
Just type Treveor wishart into the search engine, and you will find it.
Although I said it would be of help for those interested in CSound or the
Cecilia software, please be aware that this is not a manual or introduction
to any particular software, and does not give any instructions for the use of
such. It is however, a very good explanation of the theories and processes
that people using software of that ilk would find very useful. (I did at any
rate) Wishart looms large behind the Composers Desktop Project, for which he
has designed much software.
Im not sure if CDEMusic offers it, but if you get the chance (or the
opportunity), find yourselves a copy of Trevor Wishart and Friends...tis
divine!!. Also "Tongues of Fire" is a stunning CD.
Here is the blurb as given at the CDEMusic site:
Trevor Wishart's 'Audible Design' is subtitled "a plain and easy introduction
to practical sound composition." The first part of the book is indeed a plain
and easy introduction to sound. Then the book continues as, in the
publisher's words, "a completely fresh look at the craft of musical
composition, for an age when all imaginable sounds have become accessible to
us and the computer allows us to transfer these in any way we desire.
Compositional techniques are discussed in detail, with applications to
radically different kinds of sound material and each is illustrated by
appropriate sound examples. The text concludes with an extensive appendix in
which all processes described . . . are laid bare in diagrammatic form,
avoiding mathematical or technical language." 139 pages, with illustrations
and musical examples. Included with the book is a compact
disc of sound examples with a separately-bound index.

Hope that helps.
