First of all: congrats! I´m currently counting my pennies trying to
figure out whether or not I can afford one of those new
Powerbooks...we´ll see...I really want one. Pure techno-lust, this.

Second, from what I´ve heard the audio output on the Powerbook is OK,
but nothing more. Don´t expect high-fidelity quality. It´s probably a
bit noisier than a proper soundcard (like Audiomedia III etc.), and if
you really want high quality audio I/O you should probably check out the
VXPocket from Digigram:

As it says: "audio quality on Powerbooks [as is] is well below
professional quality", but I guess this depends on your taste as well.
After all, this is the microsound mailing-list where glitches are
welcomed. At least sometimes.

There´s also an upcoming very interesting gizmo from Tascam that
connects to the USB, but I´ve heard bad things about audio over
USB...perhaps this one will actually deliver:

I´m sure you´ll figure something out.
