it's my impression that experimentation in the genre of "songs", in 
particular the aforementioned recording, is not an end unto itself.
that's why i consider it "...ALL pop music".
oval, pole, mouse on mars, (and yes, sony_mao) all work in a quite 
formularic structure that is the popular song. "...it's just a ditty," as 
johnny lydon once said.
