RE: [microsound] tortoise/djed

Just a little note about Gastr Del Sol, as they happen to be the greatest
band ever (seriously !): Popp didn't contribute at all to Upgrade and
Afterlife. THe electronics are in fact the work of O'Rourke and Grubbs +
little contributions of Ralf Wehowsky (an amazing tapes introduction on the
song "the relay"). Popp only contributed to Camoufleur, the last LP of the
band. Also, I think Jim O'Rourke has done great electronic works (on Touch
compilation "Scatter" for instance, or on Hecker's recent remix-clash... and
of course with Fennesz and Rehberg). Anyway, he's not the most original
electronic "composer" but he's also not the least one. And the mix of pop
and "glitching" guitar on the song Eureka is amazing! (just like a mix of
Nuno canavarro and Fennesz's "Play". Anyway..... O.

ah -- and along similar lines, one of the tracks on Gastr Del Sol's "Upgrade
& Afterlife," to which I'm pretty sure Markus Popp contributed.  a brilliant
song and a brilliant track.
