oh brother. : \
obmicrosound: i'm loving the "ensognomig" record! for those who haven't
heard of this it's a live off-the-cuff collaboration between the guys in
mouse on mars, frank dommert (who runs the sonig label), and various
artists from the mego camp (tina frank, florian hecker, and roman bauer).
in many respects the sonig-mego grouping is a perfect match! many of the
sonig releases have been about taking analog production in new directions
(with some pretty wonderfully 'smudgy' -- the analog version of glitch --
results!), while mego of course has been more in the digital domain. the
thing that both share, however, (well, some of the mego people share this)
is this kind of geeky irreverence about the most abstract and apparently
impenetrable sound design. they make "difficult" music sound silly and fun!
"ensognomig" is vinyl only for now, but sonig is starting to release cd's,
so hopefully those without record players will soon have a chance to hear
this fantastic release.
