blind/process music

just wondering:

does anyone know of any recordings that were made 'blind,' without the 
artist listening to the track as it was assembled and manipulated?

btw, did anyone notice that the majority of the tracks on the new 12k 
compilation are really short, like pop song length?  it's nice to not 
overstay your welcome, but the miki yui, komet, shuttle358 and inoue/deupree 
all end right when i'm getting my mental swerve on.
