fft/ wavelet software

Hi all,

I'm looking for a Mac software that can do a fast fourier transform
(analysis) and reverse transform (synthesis) using exponentially spaced
frequency bands. I know SoundHack and it's a quite good program but it
just does the "traditional" equally spaced analysis. I want to operate
on the spect-files so I need a file format documentation (hopefully as
easy as SoundHack/CSound files). I read that there are techniques that
produce so called "wavelets" but are very time consuming. Thanks a lot.

I'm also looking for articles etc. on manipulation techniques concerning
fft tables. E.g. I discovered that you have to "mirror" the phase data
when you flip the frequency bands in order to avoid artifacts (amplitude
modulation, probably because of the fft-windowing ?), but I'm still
having a trial-and-error approach. Any recommendations?

Ciao,
