RE: [microsound] re:music presentation

Yeah, I agree with you, Taylor -- I thought something similar, although I
don't think it was quite conscious -- but that with Eshun, Rimbaud et al
were judges, it made it seem like an in-crowd kind of affair. (Also, I
guess, the honorable mentions to ppl like Gescom... I haven't heard the
minidisc, but from everything else I know about them, they don't seem quite
up to par for a prize like that. Again, it smacked of insiderism.)

Still - very glad that Carsten won the prize.

i was initially quite happy to hear of this award as well.. but i
must admit that i was a bit disapointed when i found out the board of
voters included robin rimbaud, spooky, and kodwo eshun.. while all
very respectable artists/writers.. they're also very close to
carsten and this field of music.. they're all basically carsten's
contemporaries and peers.. which i guess in a way dimishes the
"historical" or "classic/academic" notion of the award..

am i making any sense?

i guess what i'm trying to say is that i'd be a little more impressed
if the board of voters were people carsten didn't know at all.. or
old fart dignitaries or something.. as opposed to a bunch of his
friends..

but, fortunatley, it doesn't dimish my love for the series or my
appreciation of carsten as an artist!

taylor,
