Which laptop...?

Dear All,

Our hacker troubles are, fingers crossed - f i n a l l y - behind us.
Blofeld, to the best of our knowledge, is now languishing in a Dutch
Penitentiary and we've signed a contarct with a new ISP/web-host so, with
luck, we should be back up to speed by the week's end...

I've a question which I don't doubt must have been asked a 100(0) times
before: I'm about to take the plunge and buy a laptop but of the plethora
out there which should I opt for?

I intend largely using it to keep up to speed with emails, etc. but I'm
concerned that an iBook isn't going to give me the flexibility of performing
on/with it from time to time. A G3? But then the new G4 has a fast-sounding
'velocity chip', but have they managed to cram it into a laptop yet...?

If you could choose which would you opt for? All answers, pointers,
suggestions gratefully accepted on- or off-list. Thanks.
