there's something in the mac scene called 'community' & although it can
account for many of the great things about this platform, it also breeds
some misplaced anti-pc sentiments.  when i say misplaced i mean that
there's a lot to hate about the pc (especially in a microsoft-centric
world) but the not-so-uncommon phenomenon of mac-heads frowning at
people for the sole reason that they're using a pc is, to put it
bluntly, petty.  not only that, it also contributes in breeding a fairly
stupid counter-sentiment ("oh yeah, so i'm an outcast for using a pc,
i'll just use it more!  & screw those macs!!@").

the best thing is, of course, to own both platforms.  which is what i
plan doing when i have the means as i do like the mac os interface
(that's what i'm using on the job).  maybe they'll eat each other out,
like the insect-typewriters in cronenberg's _naked lunch_...
