future of music
There's an online discussion now...
It's a discussion on the future of music....based on a radio program
broadcast on Radio National, Australia.

There will be a LIVE web forum after the program with host Tim Ritchie
and special guests, including:
Peter Moon, an IT Lawyer specialising in the music industry
Kate Crawford, from the electronic music duo, bi(f)tek
Dennis Remmer, who runs a virtual record label.
and Pimmon, a Sydney based electronic music artist.
Here's some of the blurb...
The internet has revolutionised the way we do many things and its impact
goes way beyond how we do business or buy our groceries. It's about to
change the way we make, listen to, distribute and sell music.
As the technology of communication redefines how we interact, it
neutralises geographical barriers and in doing so, affects cultural
identities. Chat-rooms enable fans to broaden their musical horizons. They
can hear the latest from Finland, Russia, or China via their personal
computers. Where we live no longer defines what we listen to.
All these changes mean music in people's lives is about to be changed
forever. How music is listened to, bought, perceived and accessed, changes
with new technologies like WAP and MP3s.
It would be good if some Wire listees could join in..
