agricultural workers of Central America. The civil wars of the last

of land has been aggravated because of IMF and World Bank pressure on
governments to "liberalize" land policies and allow market forces to

Tacamiche, a lively community_until early this year_of 120 families,
settled on 50 acres in the middle of banana fields. In June 1994, as a
result of a long strike by the banana worker?s union against Chiquita
Brands International (the latest incarnation of United Fruit), the
1,000-acre plantation of Tacamiche, along with three other large farms,
was abruptly and arbitrarily closed down. Chiquita alleged that the
lands were no longer fertile, but the real motive for the closure was to

[San Francisco] Safety Scissors is one of the new laptop terrorists from
the West Coast. He has created art installations and performances as
well as quirky, minimal techno for labels such as Context and Force
Tracks (Germany). Recently has been spending his time in the studio
working on album oriented material for Carpark Records and Plug Research
as well as projects for Hefty and Cytrax. Safety Scissors has also
recently  joined the mysterious group of third world audio activists
known as Beta Bodega Coalition.

*JAKE MANDELL  [carpark ? force inc. ? kodama ?  rice and beans]
[Minneapolis] Inspired by three years of biochemical research (3D
modeling of protein structure) while attending college in the midwest
United States, Jake applies the interconnected aesthetic of biochemistry
to his music. Each of his tracks is micro-detailed on a molecular
level.  The end result a computer soup tribal techno-electro babble
which has seen releases on both Worm Interface, Force In.c (Germany),
Carpark and his own label Kodama.

[Japan/USA] Intelligence agent(s) from Kyoto and Lima, by way of
Nashville, operating in New York, Manila, Singapore, Colombia and Peru.
Said to have connections with the Anti-Imperialist International Brigade
(AIIB), Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path, SL) and Graceland. Equipment:
portable CPU device and soniguerre object. Known to be active in
disruption of dominant cybernetic paradigm by trademark
