don't wish to diss this link; it's quite nice. but for me,
it does raise the issue of "one-to-one correspondence of audio to visual".
at one extreme, the "audio visualizers" seek to exactly translate
audio data into its visual analogue.
at the other, the "eye candy" crowd presumes its lovely images
somehow embody the emotion of the music.
for me, this link is heavy audio visualizer stuff. obviously a lot of work went
into parsing audio data and translating it. but, is there esthetic payoff?
the relation between sound and image is so complex...
there's a analogous situation in film scoring:
bernard hermann (i.e.) writing directly to mirror the film's action,
jean-luc goddard (i.e.) putting audio purpendicular to it.
perhaps...like in so many things, the middle ground is the most interesting?
