laptop advice

Is anybody out there running music software on both Windows 98 and Mac based
systems?  In your opinion is the music software available for Win9X as good
as that which is available for Mac.  I used to think that there was nothing
like a Mac for reliability and the interface but after years of working on
really powerful Windows workstations I'm beginning to wonder if all that has
been eclipsed.  I'm considering a powerbook but all my software on my home
and office workstations is windows based and the 3d modeling software is not
available for the MAC at all.  Is it really worth it over a pc laptop?
