I've spent some time with it on friends' machines, and it would
appear from my brief exposure to it that it's quite interesting and
has some real possibilities. Since there's no demo available and
the stuff will run you $550 or so *more* than the cost of the
Max (or Max/MSP) you need to run it, one must take some of
the usefulness of it on faith. If you own neither Max nor MSP,
there is a bundle with nato.0+55 available through Kagi, who
handles NN's ordering for her. Sadly, the price may keep it out
of the hands of those who might make the most interesting use
of it.
Jeremy Bernstein has undertaken to write the first nonalphababblized
and nonlogorrhetic look at nato, which does as good a job as one
could imagine of describing what nato.0+55 is and does. You
can find it at:
http://www.bootsquad.com/nato/
Finally, the woman who wrote nato.0+55 is, by all
accounts, quite different than her swaggering, bellicose, bigot
of a cyberself when it comes to customer support and dealing
with her "customers." While many, if not most, of the people I've
come in contact with appear to express some incredulity on this
issue, folks I know and trust are unanimous on this point.
That observation may also assist you in your decisions.

P.S. The new Pimmon on fällt is magnificent, imho
P.P.S. While I do some work as a contractor with Cycling '74 (who
publishes Max and MSP), my comments here represent me alone.
Any of you who know me know that, but it should be said nonetheless.
