I think you are missing the point.  Musicians don't generally hide how
they are playing a violin.  One of the best ways to learn how to play a
violin is to watch a master at work.

Digital music allows the process to be more open than before, and more
closed than before.  The musician has more choice, but personally I have
less respect for musicians who choose to hide behind the technology.
