Re: [microsound] process vs achievement

If you can't see something being performed, why not just listen to a CD?

For me experiencing the beauty of a process isn't about geeky detail.
It's about the elegance of a computer program in execution.

A performance should create a deeper environment than a recording.
Witnessing a band play together draws you into the music, because you feel
part of the process. If you can't see any of the performers actions,
where is the value in getting them to perform in front of you?

These are the views of a programmer/generative musician, who spends a lot
of time constructing and admiring processes. But one of my aims is to
allow non-programmers to feel the beauty of code.

I am enjoying this discussion, all views have been well constructed and
enlightening without exception. If only all mailing list groups were as
good!
