His "Wave Field" on Dexter's Cigar is a gorgeous work of percolating guitar ambience, perhaps comparable in texture to David Sylvian's work with Robert Fripp on "Approaching Silence" and in depth and warmth to Brian Eno's "On Land." "Aeriola Frequency" on Perdition Plastics is a different beast entirely and perhaps slightly closer to the focus of this list, using feedback loops to achieve its more delicate filaments of sound, but here too there is a sense that the static soundscape is very much alive, setting it apart from colder methodological experiments with similar techniques. It seems from catalog descriptions that the new "Sound Mind Sound Body" is in back in the guitar realm, while the little EP on Tomlab is continuing with feedback, but by all means find "Wave Field" before this out of print treasure vanishes entirely from the shelves.
