re: sigma et al.

Hmmm. I'm a bit confused about these Sigma Editions boys. First they were a New Zealand label, then they were a Melbourne label. Now they're a Dutch label. Whats going on !!

They are a fine label though I must say.

I reckon they're great too.... The two guys who started Sigma are both NZers. Rosy Parlane lives in Auckland, NZ still, unless that situation changed reasonably recently. Other guy who seems to be running things, and who is the other half of Parmentier with Rosy, lives in Amsterdam. I understand they were both in Melbourne before their respective moves to their current locations...

As a Kiwi, blind nationalism says let's call them a New Zealand label. :-) I guess it's Dutch insofar as the guy who seems to be running the show is in Holland.

Have many people heard that Kemikosi (sp?) 12" they put out? More Vlad Delay stuff under a different name, and really tasty. Has there been

Hey Michael, hows things... good to see you on this list too, any other kiwi's here? write me.

Just some useless trivia in this thread. Rosy Parlane is a moniker for Paul Douglas... I don't believe either him nor Dion Workman (the other half of Parmentier) are based in NZ any longer. somewhere in europe.

Now, Paul Douglas, Dion Workman and msr. Dean Roberts used to be in a rather neat free-noise/post-rock whatever guitar band called Thela. They have a lovely album out on Esctatic Peace. quite different from what they all do now, but interesting they all kind of went off into a similar field after Thela broke up.

saw parmentier live in wellington a few years back opening for noise man Keiji Haino... quite subtle performance (until one of the guys chair collapsed, which was quite funny), would like to see the sigma people back here to play, but thats probably unlikely? if either paul or dion are on the list, let it be known you have a few fans in yr home country.
