Re: microsound Digest 14 Dec 2000 01:35:18 -0000 Issue 211

regarding suggested related readings reccommended for micro-sounders (less
likely to appeal to laptop french philosopers, but sure to aid in ear
development and sensitivities towards the otherwise unheard)...

none mention music - but all are in someway related to aesthetic being
discussed...although more in a literary manner than theoretical - knowledge
by absorption rather than concrete thought...

in praise of shadows by tanizaki
letters to a young poet by rilke
confronting silence by toru takemitsu (sorry, this one mentions music, in
fact is all about music, but you should read it anyways!)
anything by robert walser
notes on a cinematographer by robert bresson
tarkovsky's writings
anything by henri michaux
joseph cornell's diary or biography
agnes martin's writings

also try any book in a language you don't understand just sitting and
starring at a page can really give your ears a focus on the audio world
around you. (or you can read it out loud and make your own microsound
opera!:-)
