human intentionality is too small to accomplish the creation of true art.
the truly sincere singer-songwriter's willful expressions provoke only
embarassment in the listener.
the direct attempt to render a particular emotional effect is usually
the least sucessful means to invoke that effect.
by indirect means --- focus on the materials, or form, or practice -- the
possibility occurs for emotional resonance to occur of its own accord....a
resonance greater than the any individual's tiny emotional sphere.
when dealing with large phenomenae -- such as the creation of an
emotional experience in a large number of unknown persons, at a distance --
large tools are required. human volition doesn't fit the bill.
a better approach : a spacecraft can use the gravitational field of a
distant planet to change its course, or gain velocity. by precise
calculation, distant influences are indirectly transformed into power.
