havent heard anyone doing that recently but I'm a little out of touch.
Ironically in the context of recent debates on this mailing list, phasing
two tape recorders was one of the first experimental things I ever did
though I never felt like an innovator at the time, just a weirdo. Years
later I learned that Steve Reich pioneered the technique in the 60s. If
you're not already familiar with his material you might want to check it
out.
