Royalties have to be paid if your building encoders-decoders,
not for simply posting or listening mp3 files. Is that
expected to change ?

..mp3 is usually the best choice for compression because of
it widespread use [as opposed maybe to quality]. It beats
any other compression algorithm when it comes to it's number
of users.

That said, I imagine places like .tiln are perfect for
experimenting with new formats and ideas -- in fact, you
already do.

If you do use the .ogg format please consider also releasing
copies in .mp3..., you know, for those of us not so, um,
experimental... =)

..tiln is an awesome place and resource, I'd hate not to be
able to enjoy it because of some compatibility issue. In
particular the vorbis site does not seem to list a Mac player.
