in: would you consider, say, Eno to be ms?  Lee

Quite simply, no. I believe the inherent difference between ambient and
micro would have to center around the listener's state of consciousness.
Ambient music in the past, although often associated with a certain level of
academia, seemed to promote escapism...transcendence perhaps. Micro seems to
solidly ground the listener in the moment, like an electric jolt of reality.
Microsound audio represents or reveals the process, where ambient music
would seem to deliver an experience far removed from any definable source.
There are of course exceptions to this opinion and there will always be work
that rides the line between genres.
