that would be alejandra salinas. her "home tapes" 10" is an excellent,
ingenious & downright lo-fi collage of tapes from her childhood. side a
are verbatim extracts from said tapes, giving a whole new meaning to
field recording. side b is an electroacoustic composition made from
those tapes. the cover includes an english translation of the spanish
talk throughout side a.
also notable is alejandra & underwood's "the children's album" (also on
lucky kitchen), half children songs from all over the world, half noisy
reconstructions from these sources. charming, but i do like "home
tapes" better.
