vote robot
hello gang.
this past summer, i had the pleasure of attending the second *Transmissions*
festival, held at the cat's cradle in chapel hill, North Carolina. really
great three-day fest, dominated by the presence of kevin drumm , fennesz,
pita, d grubbs, kim cascone (even a rare performance by john fahey!). I
joined the m-sound list a few months later, so i'm not sure if it's been
covered/reviewed yet.
anyway, the real sleeper (pardon the cannes-speak) was a couple of geeky
guys from rural Canada, called Vote Robot. I only caught like 15 minutes of
their set, but they set themselves apart from the rest of the lappie-toters
with their organic, *real instruments* approach to microsound construction.
It was a memorable performance, which is saying a lot considering they were
sandwiched between Mego heavies.
so, has anyone heard of Vote Robot, or know about their music?
piggers,
BOB maynard
