?: sources on recording technique

List,

Nothing beats apprenticing in a recording studio, but
with "microsound" (and other) electronic/computer/e-a
work, it seems that older ideas about the studio cum
temple cum workshop are crumbling into private, even
mobile spaces. Okay, enough of the obvious: that
said, can anyone mention some literature that's been
particularly helpful in terms of "home" recording
techniques? Doesn't have to be books, but maybe
something other than the mainstream tech mags.
Private e.mail if the list doesn't need to know.

As always, thanks,

----s
