Re: [microsound] hafler trio anyone?
I am quite fond of the albums I own by The Hafler Trio - "Inoutof"
(probably my favorite), "All that Rises Must Converge," and "How to Reform
Mankind" - yet I have heard several other of this "group's" releases to
which I have had little reaction. The packaging and liner notes manage to
be perplexing and amusing at once, and often one's sense of befuddlement
with these records is the result of deliberate gaming on the part of the
"group," especially in the extensive liner notes concerning the Robol
Institute on the early records. But even while poking fun - it seems - at
the pretentions of the industrial/experimental music scene H3O have managed
to create some deeply engaging and enduring musical worlds, and the
techical sophistication and compositional depth of the recordings has
increased with each successive release. "Inoutof," in particular, makes
quite nice use of narrative text as an accompaniment to a sonic work. Has
anyone any comments on the recent CD on Die Stadt?
