I agree. I grew up in Romania, but have lived in the US for the last 15 years and I
find that when I lived in Romania everyone seemed to be politically aware and active
(and still do) while in the US the attitude seems to be more like it's a choice if
you want to be involved in politics or not. Having to deal with politics is almost
viewed as a burden by a lot of younger people in the US. And I have to admit that I'm
just as guilty of this sort of political apathy as anyone. I think people here are
too preoccupied with their "careers" & their commodities to have time for politics.
:-) It seems like the biggest political concern in the US when it comes to voting is
"Who's gonna help me make more money / Who's gonna cut down taxes ?". I guess that's
true capital-ism for you.
