"FRESH FROM DA' TRENCHES!"

"FRESH FROM DA' TRENCHES!" --- Spike, Leipzig, October 2000.

The Miami and Leipzig-based label, BONIATO, is the formalist ghetto of the
Beta Bodega Coalition. With gulags in El Salvador, the Netherlands, Spain,
and the Czech Republic, Boniato is mainly concerned with the quality of form
and leaves content entirely to the artists.
Boniato's goal is to manufacture only audiophile-quality singles and LPs of
sound not otherwise captured thus. In keeping with the themes of the Beta
Bodega Coalition, Boniato's first releases will be communiqués from BBC
operative, Needle; recorded during field exercises in Groningen, NL and
Berlin, Germany, and cryptanalyzed by such Post-Digital illuminaries as
V/Vm, Goem, Mixer, General Magic, and Komet (aka Frank Bretschneider).
Those releases will be followed by the "Booty Glitch" series, celebrating
Miami Bass and the digital revolution, with releases by Andreas Berthling
and Mokira (aka Andreas Tilliander), Kim Cascone and Opopop, Ectomorph and
Sony Mao, and Takeshi Muto and a special guest.

In a cooperation with Elegua Records, Boniato will release vinyl versions of
original soundtracks in the "Electronic Music & the Moving Image" series.
The first release from Boniato in the series will be "The Man with a Movie
Camera", an original score by Raster-Noton stalwarts Otto Bender (aka
Byetone) and Otto Held, for the 1928 film of the same name by Soviet
director Dzinga Vertov.
In general release will be: a single by Øivind Idsø, a one-sided single by
Andreas Berthling, a seven-inch single and 12-inch EP by Goem (a co-release
of Beta Bodega and Boniato), and a textile release by the Beta Bodega
Coalition and Counterpoint Garments.
In fall 2001, Beta Bodega and Boniato will co-sponsor the BBC/Booty Glitch
2001 tour of Europe featuring Needle, Sony Mao, and regional field agents
such as Goem, Fibla, Full Swing, Mixer, Spike and Phonem.
On March 22, Boniato recording artists Needle and Sony Mao, along with
cohorts V-8 and the Beta Bodega Coalition, will perform a BBC field action
at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden for Subtropics 13. On March 24, Needle,
Sony Mao, and Boniato will participate in Infiltrate 3.0 (Needle was the
only artist to perform live at Infiltrate 1.0 in 1999) at Churchill's, in
Little Haiti.
On March 26, Infiltrate 3.0 will feature the Miami premiere of Boniato
recording artist, Swedish sound sculptor Andreas Berthling, at Mission
(Miami Beach).

Infiltrate 3.0 is a reaction to the Winter Music Conference 2001.
