Re: [microsound] Micro.2 - Those 12k guys - Raster-noton
Yeah, Micro 2 was pretty fantastic, especially Carsten Nicolai's set on
Saturday. I missed Frank Bretschneider's set unfortunately (which I was
really looking forward to) and Taylor Deupree's set was also very
interesting, balancing the hyperminimal moments with clusters of rhythmic
micron dances.
Kim Cascone's set was fluid and dynamic throughout, with fantastic visuals;
the sound of a psychedelic river enveloping you in a very, very high
resolution color scheme. I wasn't a big admirer before but with this
performance my respect for Cascone's work goes up a notch. Richard Chartier's
performance, however, left me a little dry. Maybe I wasn't in the right
mindset, but I think the way the performance developed was disappointing,
although I did think the sounds proposed were very well constructed,
discreetly ornate. Overall, 2 excellent nights of micro music.
