Douglas Quin (http://home.pon.net/quin/index.html) has worked
with lots of insect sounds (including a rare recording made for
Westdeutscher Rundfunk Köln made entirely of deconstructed and
mangled cicada clicks). i *think* that one was released on Het
Apollohuis's label, run by Paul Panhuysen.
he released one in 1997, on Earthear (ee9022), called Forests that
has a lot of insects as well as other fauna. it starts off natural-
sounding (even though it's an ensemble of samplers ) and mutates
as it goes along.
i played Forests in 1998 with Doug (and Mike Wingo) at The
Kitchen as part of a program called Music From Nature, sponsored
by Terra Nova Magazine: "Music from Nature: A Terra Nova
Compilation." Terra Nova/MIT Press, USA. (CD Compilation). see
