I've only been gassed once, in a stanley cup riot in vancouver.  But quebec
city and montreal have hockey riots all the time.  I found it strange that
reporters were saying how 'appalling' it was that plastic bullets were being
used against citizens for the first time in Canada.  Well the plastic
bullets were deployed in our hockey riot in 1994, and I'm pretty sure
they've made an appearance in every other major riot.  Even if we just focus
on political rallies, Vancouver got it all in 1997 for the Apec Summit,
chain-link fence and all!  I'm not trying to claim bragging rights here, I'm
just wondering why all these east-coasters seem so suprised about it.
