not sure about that. we have seen a similar development over here too...
Sweden being the chairman country of the EU during the first half of 2001
has been the host of many EU-minister's meetings and during the last one
that was held in the city of Malmoe the police used unecessary violence and
arrested around 200 peaceful anti-EU/EMU demonstrators, among them a swedish
member of the parliament for trying to talk to one of the officers and ask
them why they were arresting people... so it's getting a bit uncanny over
here too....

apart from that i have nothing clever to add to this discussion...
