This is this month's lowdown for clonk. This event has been
arranged in close collaboration with notype records out of montreal. Notype
is an MP3 based label that distributes a wide range of experimental
electronic music for free via the internet. Take a look (and listen) at
Notype's catalog and history via http://www.notype.com - they have over 50
releases that dip into multiple genres and head off on many a tangent.

*please note - this week notype's ISP was hacked and you may have trouble
accessing notype and their audio archives*

Here is a brief rundown of the Montreal artists that will be performing
this month:

Morceaux_De_Machines
Morceaux_De_Machines produce a sound that falls between the realm of
electro-acoustic composition and free jazz. Entire Genres are bastardized
and nothing is sacred - live instrumentation and turntable manipulation is
often digitally mutilated beyond recognition. They recently released their
first Notype album and are involved in several collaborative projects
reaching towards the aesthetic of improv jazz.

James Schidlowsky
James is an producer of ambient music who openly admits he is obsessed with
abstract radio sounds and considers his shortwave radio his favorite piece
of gear. For Clonk James will be working with and manipulating whatever
drones and static he can grab from his shortwave and an arsenal of radio
recordings. In addition to his material on notype, James has released
several CD-R's of his material and is currently working on his next Notype
album and a side project with Montreal based free-jazz outfit Yves Hudon Et
Son Équipe.

Joining the Montrealers will be Tomas Jirku and clonk residents naw and
ether mann.

Tomas Jirku has been up to a lot since he last graced us with his presence.
Tomas recently contributed a track to Mille Plateaux's newest Clicks n' Cuts
record, has an upcoming release on the new Montreal label Substractif, and
is booked to perform at this years edition of Mutek. Tomas's first album
'varients' for Alien8 was a remix project of his original releases on
notype.

Neil aka naw will be emerging from an extended period of hibernation in
his studio
to perform a all new set of material (most of which will be destined for
release via notype this summer). He is also working on upcoming material to
be release on Toronto based A/S Systems as well as collaborations with Tomas
Jirku and Dick Richards. Neil was also recently asked to parcipate in
performance at the subtle technologies conference/exhibition next week
alongside sound/visual technology artist Andrea Polli. You can get more
information on this event at:

Rounding out the lineup will be DJ's camp and ether mann. Camp (aka David
Turgeon) is the headhoncho of notype and has promised to dust off some old
gems for clonk. The evening will be closed out by clonk resident ether mann
who will be working through a bunch of the minimal techno that has been
doing it for him lately.

If you have read this far television has definitely not shortened your
attention span. We invite you to take a peak at our revamped clonk site now
with audio content as well as a links page to some of influences. We hope
to see you out this Friday..
