H. Stelzer + J.Talbot bio:
"The duo of Howard Stelzer and Jason Talbot is an integral part of
Boston's burgeoning improvised music community. Talbot plays a single
turntable and a mixer. With minimal preparation, he has developed his own
vocabulary of scrapes, drones and clicks. Stelzer performs using a series of
standard cassette decks and tapes, manipulating the motors and gears
manually to create a percussive counter to Talbot's organic noises.
"Talbot and Stelzer have performed with Kevin Drumm, Le Quan Ninh,
nmperign, Martin Tetreault, Brendan Murray and several others. The duo's
work is currently published on one LP, "The Idea of Northeast" (split with
bassist Michael Bullock) on Intransitive, and a 3" CD, "The Name of This
Band is Howard Stelzer and Jason Talbot" is forthcoming on the Crank Satori
label. Their first full CD will be released for their upcoming North
American tour.
"In addition to performing, Howard Stelzer operates the Intransitive
Recordings label. He has published CDs by an array of international artists,
including work by Voice Crack, Brume, John Hudak, nmperign, Roel Meelkop,
Richard Chartier, and many others."

Seth Cluett bio:
"Passively pursuing the heightened awareness of the physical spaces and
external stimuli to which we are accustomed, Seth Cluett's pieces exploit
the minutia of sonic and visual material, focusing on the interaction
between the environment and the audience/performer/artist. His work has been
shown/performed at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Mobius Artist Space,
and The Revolving Museum in Boston; EAPS @Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
and Engine 27 Gallery in New York; and Artemisia Gallery and Deadtech in
Chicago. Upcoming presentations include a new installation at Mobius Artist
Space, a series of performances at the Knitting Factory in New York, and a
video screening during the Boston Cyberarts festival.
"Cluett's sound work takes many forms, including speaker installations and
sound-producing sculptures. He is an active member of Boston's
electro-acoustic free-improv music community as a member of the groups
IIbasSpit (along with bassist Michael Bullock and trombonist Tucker Dulin),
and Nyquist.
"For his upcoming North American tour, Cluett will focus on his
sound-producing sculptures, particularly one made of thick sheets of glass
and contact microphones. Recordings of his sculptures can be heard on his
upcoming solo CD to be published by Percept Press this Spring."

Mora
is an electronic trio from Chicago, IL
is Brent Gutzeit of - laptop computer
Jason Soliday of - laptop computer
Philip von Zweck - Discs and Mixer
is now time for a math lesson: b+j+p=mora. mora is
jason soliday of the cracked electronics group, gunshop,
solo as coeurl, and sometimes of seafoam; philip
von zweck of seafoam, and host of nationally known
experimental radio show 'something else'; and
brent gutzeit of tvpow, wheaton research, and 0's.
. . .and then it gets complicated. . .any two of them
can also be mora, as long as the missing member is
designated with a -. therefore we have mora -b, mora -j,
mora -p. even worse, they often invite other musicians
to perform with them, resulting in such novel equations
as mora -p +k. . . so what is it really? electronic improv
with sine waves, fractured bits of over-processed recordings,
microbeats, and perhaps even something that was once a
contact mic-ed improvisation. . .
"Taking the opposite approach, I wasn't sure when sounds of an evening at
the Ottobar became a sound orchestration of Mora's. I could have sworn that
it was just a dump truck backing up outside somewhere in the distance -
until it became a scalpel sharp laser surgery tone that carved out a space
for itself inside my head. A warm little burrow from which it invited in the
modest wafting veils of sound/hiss coming from those giant PA speakers and
those three guys standing on stage. Although it was not their expressed
intent, the piece turned into a nice John Cage homage as I kept listening
harder, expecting the sound to really kick in, over powering the dirty hiss
of the kicked around screaming punk-rock Ottobar PA and everyone at the bar
who refused to shut up. Neither happened but instead the two blurred quite
nicely. The muffled conversations in the audience, vaporous pulsed aural
bits, rumbling traffic outside, the sound of a digital watch alarm, all
woven together in an inextricable collage of ambiguous soundscape. It ended
as unsuddenly as it began. Or should I say continued?"
