People interested in expression will always be interested in control. People like knobs and the ability to call all the shots when creating sounds. I guess you define your level of control with the amount of time you spend on the tools. When is the cost benefit curve out of whack? I mean, when you program your own modules, when does this new level of control simply take up more time than is needed? I think this is a choice made on an artist by artist basis...

Exactly, it's just a tool (sounds like a good one too!), not inherently special for any reason. I have a similar problem with the cult of the 303. It makes a neat sound, but when is the commodity more important than it's function. I'd rather collect baseball cards...
