Berlin: Podewil: x-tract Record-Release-Concert on June 14th 01, 20 pm

Podewil presents:
x-track Record-Release

The new label reflects Podewil?s position in the vanguard of the
international contemporary music scene. It will provide a home for
cutting-edge music defying neat categorizations, running the gamut from
experimental electronic club sounds to Stockhausen to Noise and Sound.
x-tract will release projects that are directly or indirectly connected to
Podewil: live and studio recordings of pieces and compositions that have
been performed at Podewil, projects by musicians who have performed or been
artists-in-residence at Podewil in the last few years, and the results of
collaborations initiated through projects supported by Podewil.
The label is starting with four releases.

by John Cage to designate sounds so subtle that they are usually barely
discernible.

Christophe Charles (F/J), Boris D. Hegenbart (D), Brandon LaBelle (USA),
Steve Roden (USA), Terre Thaemlitz (USA/J)
The live and studio recordings of material performed at Podewil showcase the
creative possibilities opened up by the use of samplers and computers as
musical instruments.

Lothar Fiedler (DMichael Vorfeld (D), Michael Walz (D), Boris D. Hegenbart
(D), Aleks Kolkowski (GB/D)

purely electronic sound output. Constantly changing, delicately textured
levels of sound are the result.

Werner Durand (D) prepared PVC wind instruments, Iranian ney
In the six pieces, Durand uses sounds ? including delays and loops ? to
create layers, without, however, interfering with the internal structure of
the original sounds.
