hi frans.. and list..

i thought i'd throw in my 2 cents about mutek...

having been up this year purely as an observer (ok, and a blatant 12k
promoter).. and not as a peformer.... i can say that i had a very
good time. i agree that the music tended towards the techno side of
minimalism and clicky-ness..and i sadly missed the first 2 nights..
when a lot of the more experimental music took place (goem, i8u,
matmos, etc)...

the nights (and days) i did catch were interesting.. but nothing blew
me away.. the kompakt night was a bit disapointing... jonas bering
being EXCELLENT, however..

i was hoping for a more audio/visual, artistic aesthetic sort of
event.. which last year seemed to do quite well... despite my lesser
enthusiasm this year, i had a great time.. and, as always, the
promoters and organization was top notch.. super friendly and very
professional... since i knew ahead of time i would be missing a lot
of the music i wanted to hear much of the purpose of my visit was to
meet people i've been wanting to meet.. to see old friends, and to
just hang out in montreal... and ultimately those were the highlights
of the trip for me (and of course the impromptu mixing in the
Goem-Roem's mobile studio)...

i'll be curious to see what the magazine press has to say (and those
writers who can articulate their feelings much better than myself)....
