Thanks for posting that info. I definitely think it is pertinent to discuss
tecnhiques on this list; especially ones that present new ways and concepts to
to work with sound. I was able to go out to coffee with Curtis Roads for a short bit,
but chat with him in person. It was interesting. I was able to get his views on
music spanning from the 60's to current in terms of public innovation and
creativity with electronics. I was also able to get the first five pages of a
book to published in the future titled Electronic Composition. It is definitely
one to watch for in the next couple of years (part of his lecture). I'll
definitely write up a review in August.
Unless a popular movement of music entertains and teaches in an international
context it will not be taken seriously by the academic world. The microsound
aesthetic is an international phenomenon; good, step one is there, but now it
is a task for independent producers/composers to drive music forward on the
technical and aesthetic side.
