Re: [microsound] ? for david turgeon
i hear todd drootin (of books
on tape & subverseco fame)
who is this character? i've heard the name and the music and even been to
the site but i've been trying to get more information about this artist.
is he affiliated with no type, or tiln, or any of the popular mp3 'labels'?
well, he's todd drootin. :) todd is from california & his musical project
is called books on tape. he's already released a full-length CD (_take a
read on the riding_) & his music has even been used as a backdrop to a few
MTV shows such as the real world or road rules. he has also released one
album with no type, _the highly illogical EP_. very recently (like 2 weeks
ago or so :) he has decided to start his own online label, subverseco
<http://www.subverseco.com>, where he released 3 further online albums (one
of which is live). his upcoming no type album will feature remixes from a
couple people (including me, hopefully).
as far as i know todd does use music software to compose, but his music
doesn't fall in the "microsound" genre per se (which makes this post ever
so slightly OT but what the hell, i still think it's great. :)
more information than you need to know can be found on books on tape's website:
