Toshiya Tsunoda (was: labels)

Whoever it was who was excited about Intransitive's upcoming Tsunoda CD... thanks! Me too. ;)

Some words about the guy: I am particularly impressed that Tsunoda has developed his own very personal sonic vocabulary across three (four if you count the one upcomin' on Intransitive) CDs and an LP using ONLY ONE CONTACT MICROPHONE. That's it. Well, that and some awe-inspiring mastering and many brilliant (and painstakingly well thought-out) choices of subject matter. That he does it while maintaining an air of utter detachment from his creations is even more incredible. He prob'ly doesn't even regard the result of his recordings as "music", but it undoubtedly is.

One contact-mic. If I limited myself to one contact mic, I'd just sound stupid. Tsunoda discovers raw, gut beauty with a single small silver disc and some air vibrations... man oh man...

(does this sound like a press release? Crap, I'm sorry, I don't mean it to. When I'm excited, I sound like a press release. I'm seeking help, I assure you...)
