I really LOVE Toshiya Tsunoda's sounds, and I never knew anything about him
except his gender. Fascinating to glean these little bits about such an
intriguing artisan. Thank you, list!

You know Toshiya is an art teacher (for kids) in Japan and he is heavily
into Eastern European progressive rock...not much electronic stuff at all.

Some words about the guy: I am particularly impressed that Tsunoda has
developed his own very personal sonic vocabulary across three (four if you
count the one upcomin' on Intransitive) CDs and an LP using ONLY ONE
CONTACT
MICROPHONE. That's it. Well, that and some awe-inspiring mastering and
many
brilliant (and painstakingly well thought-out) choices of subject matter.
That he does it while maintaining an air of utter detachment from his
creations is even more incredible. He prob'ly doesn't even regard the
result
of his recordings as "music", but it undoubtedly is.
