[microsound] improv electronics web site
Well, Erstwhile and Grob happen to be the two labels most explicitly
dedicated to music that's both improvised and electronic, but some other
related ones:
www.durian.at for records by Werner Dafaldaeker, other Austrian improv
folks.
www.japanimprov.com has good pages about Sachiko M, Toshimaru Nakamura,
Otomo Yoshihide (the man is Elvis to me... a damn genius, no joke), Junshi
Hirose, Incapacitants (yeah!!), others like that. Lots of information here.
www.boxmedia.com for stuff by the TV Pow folks from Chicago, who come up
with the greatest song and album titles (an example: "Michigan
Impossible"... isn't that the best? Yeah, I knew you'd agree).
www.for4ears.com Gunter Muller's label, stuff by him and his pals,
includin' Voice Crack, Le Quan Ninh, Jean-Luc Guionett, Jason Kahn, Erik
M... those guys.
www.charhizma.com Have you heard Andrea Neumann yet? Well, she's GREAT!
Also stuff by C.Fennesz, Thomas Lehn, and the ubiquitous Jim O'Rourke.
www.fmp-online.de for a TON of great improv documents. Not so heavy on
electro, but worth a look. Buy at random, it's tough to go wrong here.
also, www.sonoris.com might be worth checkin' out. Sonoris is by no means
exclusively publishing improvised music, but they did an excellent Kevin
Drumm/Taku Sugimoto CD (can Drumm do anything wrong? I don't believe he
can), a fantastic Giuseppe Ielasi trio CD (very quiet, might appeal to those
on this list who like it micro), a new Poire_z CD, one by Tom Dimuzio and
Dan Burke, that prepared piano drone album by David Marhanna...
(and then, of course, there's this little label from Boston... um, I forget
what it's called... cough cough... um, just forget it, I guess)
blah blah blah etc,
Howard Stelzer. Intransitive Recordings.
