RE: [microsound] So... like... What's microsound about?

Hmmm... Well, lookign at the list, I saw only one artist that I've heard of
- Monolake. Even still, I've never heard any of his music. I am, however,
looking to venture into new territories with music, this seems like a good
place to start.

Well, I'd wager to say that if you're a listener of any of the material
cited on the site, you've got your own idea already. Typically, it's a
medium-traffic list for discussion ranging from new releases to reviews to
aesthetic philosophy to gear-related inquiries (although this is not
intended to be a gear forum). There's also a lot of senseless bickering, but
probably not much worse than most lists out there.

This week, talk has largely shifted to the terrorist attacks in the US and
their aftermath; a brief appearance of "community" is dissolving into
political debate, some well-reasoned, some not. Personally, I'm looking
forward to the list's return to an exclusively music focus, as I don't think
it can sustain the increasingly agitated and rancorous political debate for
long.

As for music, I'd continue the discussion here, but I've hardly listened to
anything this week. I did return to Ehlers' "Plays Albert Ayler" last night,
which I reiterate is a fascinating, beautiful record of a digitally
manipulated cello composition; it's also a wonderful respite from repetitive
music.
