Re: [microsound] resources on new media

Greetings Corey et al.

I'd be interested in seeing any resources on this, as well, particularly resources for new media theory and, of course, audio stuff. I teach Digital Audio Production classes at the University of Denver (http://www.du.edu/~treddell/3550 is the syllabus for the most recent course). These courses are geared toward the novice, for the most
part. The main class outcome is an audio portfolio of five or six tracks. I try to balance an introduction to basic software categories (sound editing, synthesis and sampling, multitrack mixing, and distribution) with solo and networked collaborative projects. Few of the students seek to pursue audio work in-and-of itself; most want to
learn how to make their own soundtracks for web animations, video, and film.

Coming up this spring, I'll be teaching an Advanced section of the course that will work toward gallery installations and performance events. I'd also like to get into something more like Max/MSP, but we are at this point primarily a PC institution. Anyone know of Max/MSP-like tools for PC? Or should I stick with Reaktor?

Thanks,

-=Trace Reddell
